SCHMIDT Offers New Ergonomic Handle for its Precision Hand Presses

Cranberry Twp., PA, February 25, 2003 - - SCHMIDT Feintechnik announces the availability of ergonomic handles for its line of precision hand-operated presses. Ergonomically designed handles help the press operator achieve higher output levels and provide a more comfortable workstation. These side-mounted, offset handles can be incrementally adjusted to the proper position to suit the operator's physical requirements. They also feature an extended horizontal surface with a soft comfortable non-slip grip that significantly reduces muscle fatigue. The new ergonomic handles are available on hand-operated SCHMIDT® Rack-and-Pinion and Toggle Presses. SCHMIDT® Toggle Presses with either round or gib-guided square rams are available with force up to 5,000 lbs. SCHMIDT® Rack-and-Pinion Presses with constant force throughout the stroke are available with ram forces from 1 to 550 lbs. SCHMIDT ergonomic handles can be field installed on presses that are already in use and fitted with the standard handles. SCHMIDT® also offers Stroke Return Lock devices for all its hand-operated Rack-and-Pinion and Toggle Presses. These devices are equipped with a spring-loaded E-Stop button to permit emergency release of the locking mechanism, in the event of improperly loaded component parts, defective assemblies, missing parts and to insure operator safety. Once the operator has completed the full press stroke, the mechanism automatically releases and the handle will return to the starting position thus assuring absolute repeatability of the pressing operation.
