HP Introduces Monitored PDUs for Half-Rack Three-Phase Power

Houston, November 7, 2005 - HP introduces the new 3-phase HP Monitored PDU. Models include the HP 17.3 kVA S348 Monitored PDU for North America / Japan and the HP 22.1kVA S332 Monitored PDU for international configurations. The PDU supports rack-mount applications with three-phase power in and single-phase power out. A local power display on the PDU delivers the ability to set up and configure the PDU and monitor the PDU power for RMS current, status, and overload conditions. The HP Monitored PDU is a single feed model with 12 C-19 outlets, ideal for 1U blade power enclosures, and fits 22U to 47U racks.

As power demands from IT equipment continue to rise, more power is needed in the rack just to run those installed devices. HP's family of PDUs with Power Monitoring provides the needed power to support servers, storage, networking, and other infrastructure equipment.

The HP Monitored PDU fits in any side of the rack with power cords extending from either the bottom or top of the rack. For input feeds, the unit has 12 C19 receptacles with uniquely color-coded load identification for all receptacles, display and circuit breakers. This three-phase PDU delivers single-phase power to equipment.

Power monitoring
The HP Monitored PDU provides local power display. The front panel has a two-digit, seven segment LED digital display, which shows the current in each circuit breaker, a scroll button to scroll through values, and six LEDs, which indicate current overloads and voltage out of range conditions. Current monitoring consists of two digit RMS current, with load segment LEDs reporting three different conditions (normal 0-80%; caution 80-102%; warning > 102%). Voltage monitoring measures over voltage and under voltage on any output load segment. Remote power monitoring is available with an optional serial SNMP card.

Pricing and Availability
Sold through Authorized Dealers, the HP 17.3 kVA S348 Monitored PDU is available now with a U.S. Internet price of $1499. Pricing may vary by country or region for the international HP 22.1 kVA S332 Monitored PDU.
