Gurobi Optimization Announces the Release of Gurobi Optimizer 4.5 Software

Gurobi Optimizer 4.5 offers industry leading performance in solving challenging optimization problems, a critical capability in a wide range of business applications.

HOUSTON, -- Gurobi Optimization, Inc., announced the release of Gurobi Optimizer 4.5, which offers faster performance for difficult optimization problems as well as new licensing options.

Gurobi Optimizer 4.5 significantly reduces the time customers wait for solutions to complex, time consuming optimization models. With faster turnaround times, analysts can make decisions more quickly, enabling companies to meet varying customer demands, reduce costs, and optimize production processes.

The Gurobi Optimizer product has already been established as an industry leading optimization solution engine, providing LP, MILP, QP, and MIQP solvers. The Gurobi Optimizer 4.5 release builds on previous successful releases with a focus on increasing performance over a wide range of optimization domains.

The Gurobi Optimizer 4.5 release improves solution times for the MIP and barrier solvers. Testing has shown:

-- A 31% improvement in overall MIP performance, with a 75 % improvement on models that take more than 100 seconds to solve.

-- A 14% improvement in overall barrier performance, with a 23 % improvement on models that take more than 100 seconds to solve.

Gurobi Optimizer 4.5 also includes a new licensing option for customers that require periodic access to Gurobi software. The Pay-By-The-Day license is a new short-term, low-cost licensing option that gives users and developers the ability to dynamically adjust the number of licenses available in order to cope with variations in demand. The minimum license period is just one calendar day. This is an attractive option for developers and users whose workloads may peak at certain times.

Dr. Robert Bixby, co-founder and president of Gurobi Optimization said: "Our new release gives customers the ability to solve complex problems even faster than before. With the added speedup, especially on difficult optimization problems, users can react to changing business challenges faster than ever before. In addition, our new Pay-By-The-Day licensing option gives users more flexibility in meeting their optimization licensing needs."

"Paragon Decision Technology, developer of AIMMS, is proud to be a partner of Gurobi Optimization. With the performance enhancements that Gurobi has demonstrated with their latest software release, users and developers will be able to solve their most difficult problems faster, leading to better understanding and more optimal solutions. The combination of AIMMS modeling with the Gurobi Optimization solver benefits demanding customers that have challenging problems to solve," stated Gertjan de Lange, Vice President, Product Strategy at Paragon Decision Technology.

These latest enhancements to Gurobi Optimizer's robust, high-performance solvers for linear, mixed-integer and quadratic programming, combined with flexible licensing and delivery methods, make it even easier for more customers to employ optimization in their businesses.

About Gurobi Optimization

Gurobi Optimization provides high-performance optimization software based upon the latest technologies for linear, mixed-integer, and quadratic programming. The Gurobi Optimizer can provide major financial benefits in industries that depend on scheduling and resource allocation. Gurobi Optimization was founded in 2008 by three world-leading experts in computational optimization. Within the first year of business, independent benchmarks found Gurobi Optimizer to be the fastest and most robust system for mathematical optimization, and Gurobi has consistently remained the winner in these benchmarks. Gurobi Optimization is headquartered in Houston, Texas and has a growing list of customers around the world. For more information, please visit our website at www.gurobi.com.
