Gulf Controls Helps Customers Move Forward with Automation Technology

Tampa, Florida - The Gulf Controls Company has been helping their customers modernize, improve and streamline their machine operations by providing the most effective automation equipment for the application at hand. The Automation Department has six full-time employees, including four engineers with degrees in the field, dedicated to the application and design of automation systems.

"We assist our customers in moving forward in Automation, so they can be in the forefront with leading technology – but not bleeding edge technology," according to Bob Yager, Automation Product Manager. "We make sure the solutions we offer are tested and proven.  We don't advise moving to the latest automation technology just for the sake of being newer. There must be clear benefits to the customer. This includes increased production, improved quality, better uptime and other real measurable benefits."

Bob explained that when customers move forward to adopt a new technology, they don't necessarily know the most efficient way to implement that technology.  For example, an engineer may read that a remote diagnostics system can prevent costly downtime, but not realize how important the type of network connection is.  If the signal goes through a company server, network connection issues & interruptions could prevent the signal from being sent.  A more efficient implementation of the system might involve a cellular network that would allow a connection even if the company's internal system is not accessible.

Gulf Control's automation products serve a wide range of industries including printing, filling, packaging, paper converting, medical equipment, flight simulators, animatronics, and elevators, among others.

One recent client is a company in Florida making flight simulators for the military.  The seat of the flight simulator needed to move and rock in a realistic way, in synchronization with a simulation video, to mirror the experience of flying a high performance jet in a battle situation.  Gulf Controls helped them integrate the top of the line servo drive controllers necessary to create what users have described as a fully accurate experience.

Manufacturers of automation products represented by Gulf Controls include Bosch Rexroth, Mitsubishi, Lenze/AC Tech, P+F, Sick Optics and ABB, among others.  Gulf Controls provides everything from individual components to subassemblies to complete systems. Gulf Controls provides Automation solutions in all price ranges, low, medium and high. They deliver the results sought by their customers.
