GUI offers real-time, automatic background subtraction.

Press Release Summary:

FEINFOCUS Graphical User Interface (FGUI) v2.2 reduces shading in X-ray imagery and optimizes image contrast. Users can load previously-produced background image from available buffers, where gray values of background image are automatically subtracted from those of active X-ray image. Software also accommodates AVI recorder, 16-bit image processing, seamless integration of Direct Digital Detectors, and ability to save images in various formats.

FEINFOCUS Graphical User Interface Offers Real-Time Background Subtraction

STAMFORD, CONNECTICUT - FEINFOCUS announces a unique feature to its FEINFOCUS Graphical User Interface (FGUI) software version 2.2 - real-time background subtraction. Background subtraction is a fast and simple solution to reduce shading in X-ray imagery, a common problem in X-ray inspection that limits image contrast.

Shading appears as a slight fading of intensity from the image center toward the periphery, the degree of which depends largely on the sample or structure being X-rayed. The FGUI enables the user to activate an automatic background subtraction process, loading a previously-produced background image from one of the many buffers available. The gray values of the background image are automatically subtracted from those of the active X-ray image in real-time - visibly optimizing image contrast and, thus, facilitating interpretation of the inspection results.

FGUI version 2.2 is the latest FGUI software option for the complete line of FEINFOCUS X-ray inspection systems. The user-friendly software has been upgraded to accommodate several new capabilities, including an AVI recorder, 16-bit image processing, seamless integration of Direct Digital Detectors (DDD), and image saving in a variety of formats, e.g. TIF, BMP, and JPG. Many useful new image processing operators have also been added, such as an electronic film operator for advanced real-time X-ray inspection.

FEINFOCUS, a COMET company, is an award-winning global leader in high-resolution X-ray inspection systems and tubes.
