Greenway Medical Technologies' PrimeSuite EHR Receives CCHIT's First Updated Ambulatory EHR Certification for 2007

CARROLLTON, Ga., June 22 / / - Greenway Medical Technologies Inc. announced today that its flagship ambulatory Electronic Health Record (EHR) product, PrimeSuite(R) 2007 R2, has received its 2007 ambulatory EHR certification from the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT(SM)). This certification assures that PrimeSuite has been tested and passed inspection on 100 percent of a comprehensive set of criteria for functionality, interoperability and security.

New for 2007 testing, CCHIT requires that EHR products meet additional criteria for functionality, interoperability and security. These added requirements come as the need for physician practices and hospitals to share patient information in a safe, secure and timely manner increases in importance.

CCHIT was established in 2004 on the heels of President Bush's State of the Union address that called for an increase in the use of health information technology. CCHIT certification provides physicians with a standards-based inspection process by which to judge EHR systems.

Greenway's PrimeSuite offers a comprehensive, long-term ambulatory solution for physician practices consisting of integrated EHR, practice management and interoperability functionality. PrimeSuite currently has more than 13,500 users in the United States as Greenway(R) continues to partner with hundreds of physician practices by integrating their clinical, financial and administrative processes, which delivers a proven return on investment (ROI).

"We are very pleased to receive CCHIT's latest ambulatory certification," said Tommy Green, chairman and CEO of Greenway. "Since PrimeSuite's inception, we have been focused on delivering an integrated ambulatory EHR solution that increases patient safety and practice profitability. Greenway has always taken the steps necessary to ensure that PrimeSuite is secure and able to interoperate with other EHR systems. We believe this certification validates our efforts."

Along with extensive interoperability and workflow features, PrimeSuite can be customized to fit practices of all sizes and specialties and, more importantly, serve as a key component for hospitals and regional healthcare information organizations (RHIO's) that are seeking an integrated community strategy for healthcare information.

The Certification Commission's objective inspection process and resulting certification provides a benchmark to help guide physicians in their choice of an EHR product. The certification program helps to reduce the buying risks while opening the flow of present and future health information technology incentives offered by payers, purchasers and insurers. By choosing a CCHIT Certified Ambulatory EHR 2007 product, physicians can rest assured that the system they employ is rigorously tested and meets all current criteria for functionality, security and interoperability.

"Physicians who purchase certified products have the assurance that they have been reviewed by a panel of judges, including practicing physicians, and that they are being evaluated against standards set by professionals in the field and successfully piloted with products from large and small companies," said Mark Leavitt, M.D., Ph.D., chair, CCHIT. "The quality and safety of EHR products can now be developed specifically for that purpose."
