Graphical User Interface has low-dose radiation mode.

Press Release Summary:

With low-dose radiation mode, FEINFOCUS Graphical User Interface instantly switches off radiation during sample manipulation and motion. X-ray system automatically blocks unnecessary radiation by deflecting X-ray beam within milliseconds to shield assembly or component under inspection from exposure. Other features include single-button AVI recording; 16-bit, real-time image processing capabilities; and seamless integration of Direct Digital Detectors.

FEINFOCUS Features Low-Dose Radiation Mode

STAMFORD, CONNECTICUT - FEINFOCUS, a leading global supplier of Microfocus X-ray inspection systems and tube technology, announces a new option for FEINFOCUS Graphical User Interface (FGUI) software. The FGUI now features an automatic low-dose radiation mode that instantly switches off the radiation during sample manipulation and motion.

The low-dose radiation mode was developed in response to industry demands for reduced radiation exposure to ensure product reliability. The X-ray system automatically blocks unnecessary radiation by deflecting the X-ray beam within milliseconds so that the assembly or component under inspection is no longer exposed to radiation during motion of the manipulator. "Although I have never experienced an X-ray inspection process that caused any damage to the sample under inspection, manufacturers of certain flash memory devices are particularly concerned about radiation exposure," says Dr. Frank, Director of Technology Development at FEINFOCUS. "Therefore, we developed the low-dose mode, reducing the amount and duration of radiation applied to sensitive samples. In addition, the clever use of filters, as well as collimators, may also help to substantially reduce radiation exposure."

The user-friendly FGUI offers several other advanced features, including single-button AVI recording, 16-bit real-time image processing capabilities, seamless integration of Direct Digital Detectors (DDD), and image saving in a variety of formats, namely, TIF, BMP, and JPG formats. Many useful new image processing capabilities have also been added, such as an electronic film operator for advanced real-time X-ray inspection.

FEINFOCUS, a COMET company, is an award-winning global leader in high-resolution X-ray inspection systems and tubes. As pioneers of microfocus and nanofocus X-ray inspection technology, the company developed the first patented "open" X-ray tube. FEINFOCUS offers both X-ray sources and full radiation-shielded X-ray systems, as well as complete in-house X-ray services, such as failure analysis, component defect detection, technical support, plus preventative maintenance for both FEINFOCUS and third-party systems. In 2000, the company was certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001.

FEINFOCUS was founded in 1982, and is headquartered in Garbsen, Germany. In the Americas, the company maintains headquarters in Stamford, CT and a Technical Resource Center in San Jose, CA.
