GibbsCAM Machine Simulation Enhancements for Multi-Tasking, Mill/Turn and Turning Introduced at IMTS 2006

Option allows accurate verification of entire machine tool motion in virtual environment.

MOORPARK, CA - August 11, 2006 - Gibbs and Associates, developer of GibbsCAM, software for programming CNC machine tools, announced today that they will be introducing enhancements to the GibbsCAM Machine Simulation option at IMTS 2006 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois on September 6th - 13th, 2006. Complementary to GibbsCAM's integral Cut Part Rendering, which supports material removal simulation and verification, GibbsCAM's Machine Simulation capability, supports accurate simulation and validation of a CNC program's machine tool motion, including 5-axis simultaneous milling machines.

"As machine tools become more and more complex, the need for an accurate simulation of the machine tool motion become more and more critical," states Bill Gibbs, president and founder of Gibbs and Associates. "The latest class of multi-tasking machine tools represents just the beginning for machine tool complexity and configurability. We fully expect that multi-tasking machine tools will continue to evolve and place even more extreme requirements on CAM programming systems. The foundation that we've put in place with GibbsCAM will allow it to keep pace with this evolution."

Multi-task machine tools represent one of the fastest growing machine tool segments in the market. Multi-task machine tools have become so popular primarily due to their ability to fully machine a wide variety of parts entirely within their working space without human intervention increasing productivity and quality. Today, Gibbs and Associates has formed key partnerships with a number of machine tool vendors, which are focusing on multi-tasking as part of their strategic market position, such as Mazak, Mori Seiki, Daewoo, Index, and Nakamura Tome.

The version of GibbsCAM Machine Simulation being introduced at IMTS adds support for turning, mill/turn and multi-task machine tools. Machine tools models can be built and setup like the real machine tool, then the CNC program is simulated to validate it prior to running the CNC program on the actual machine tool. Not only does this allow potential programming errors to be visually identified before they become very expensive mistakes out on the shop floor, but program inefficiencies can also be recognized and addressed.

IMTS visitors can stop by the company's booth, #D-3001, to see first hand the GibbsCAM Machine Simulation option being demonstrated along with the latest productivity enhancements available in the latest version of GibbsCAM.
