GE Aeroderivative Gas Turbines to Power New Floating Production Platform Offshore Brazil

•Â Agreement Reinforces GE Role as a Key Supplier for Brazil’s FPSO Sector

SÃO PAULO – Reinforcing its position as a major technology supplier for the offshore Brazil oil and gas sector, GE (NYSE: GE) will provide four LM2500+G4 aeroderivative gas turbine packages for a new floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) platform.

GE will supply the equipment to Mitsui Ocean Development Engineering Co., Ltd., (MODEC), a general contractor specializing in engineering, procurement, construction and installation of floating production systems. The FPSO, owned and operated by MODEC, will be installed in 2,240 meters of water depth in the pre-salt fields offshore Brazil.

“GE previously sold 27 aeroderivative units to MODEC for installation offshore Brazil and West Africa, and we were able to leverage those successes to win this new award,” said Darryl Wilson, vice president and chief commercial officer-distributed power for GE Power & Water. “Utilizing a well-established design, we were able to compress our execution schedule and provide the aggressive delivery needed for a successful project.”

GE’s LM2500+G4 offshore gas turbine-generator packages offer a reduced weight and compact solution for installation on floating facilities. These packages are specifically built for rugged offshore/near shore applications with all necessary oil and gas standards for safety, durability and reliability.

The units for the FPSO will provide electricity for the entire vessel, including critical processing operations. They will be shipped to the shipyard in the third quarter of 2013 and will operate on natural gas with liquid fuel as a backup.
