Gas Monitoring Controllers withstand harsh environments.

Press Release Summary:

Single-channel Model 480S and dual-channel Model 580S provide continuous, fixed-point monitoring of combustible gas concentrations in 0-100% Lower Explosive Limit, and are factory-calibrated to particular gas or vapor. Utilizing continuous diffusion, electro-catalytic bead sensing technology, units operate on 117 Vac or 24 Vdc input power with 24 Vdc battery back-up capability. They include digital LED display along with LED indicators for alarm, fault, and status.

New Combustible Gas Monitoring Controllers Offer Reliable Protection With Long Service Life

Oil & Gas Production, Fuel Loading, Compressor Stations, LNG Processing & Storage, Chemical Processing, Electric Power Gas Turbines, Wastewater Treatment

LAKE FOREST, CA-Designed to provide highly reliable fixed-point combustible gas detection in harsh environments, the new Models 480A, and 580A Combustible Gas Monitoring Controllers combine superior performance, ease of use, simple installation and long service life.

The Models 480A (single-channel) and 580A (dual-channel) controllers are designed for continuous monitoring of combustible gas concentrations in the 0-100% LEL (lower explosive limit), and are factory calibrated to a particular gas or vapor. Calibration is simple and adjustment free, which reduces set-up and installation time.

Designed for use in rugged or dirty environments, the new controllers support a wide range of oil/gas applications, including production, refining, distribution and storage. They also find extensive use within chemical processing plants where they support the production of various automotive fluids, plastics, paints and solvents. Other applications include gas turbines for electric power generation and sewage treatment plants.

With their robust continuous diffusion, electro-catalytic bead sensing technology, the controllers operate over wide temperature and humidity ranges. These sensors function on the relatively simple principle that a combustible gas can be oxidized to produce heat, resulting in a temperature change that is converted via a standard Wheatstone Bridge temperature transducer to a signal, with the change in temperature being directly proportional to the gas concentration.

A wide variety of relay options are offered with the Models 480A and 580A to meet specific customer requirements. They both feature a digital LED display along with LED indicators to provide a visual indication of alarm, fault and status. Mode and reset buttons are provided for local control by plant technicians.

The system operates on 117 Vac, 50-60 Hz (optional 220 Vac, 50-60 Hz) or 24 Vdc primary input power with 24 Vdc battery back-up capability. The controllers can be wall, panel or rack mounted in a non-hazardous area. Both units have CSA approval.
