Emerson Launches Brooks(R) Mass Flow Controller Line For Bio-Pharm Applications



Brooks Instrument Mf Industrial MFC family expands with improved accuracy and response.

Hatfield, Pennsylvania (April 23, 2003) -- Emerson Process Management announces that its Brooks Instrument Mf Series of gas mass flow controllers (MFCs) has been expanded to meet the challenging requirements of biotech and pharmaceutical gas delivery systems. The Mf series incorporates an IP65/NEMA 4X housing to protect it in hose-down and mildly corrosive environments encountered in pharmaceutical applications, such as fermentation processes. The product line expansion makes available a complete range of configurations to meet the accuracy, response and precision control specifications required for critical process gas (Air, N2, O2 and CO2) delivery systems.

The Brooks Mf series is available with either analog or digital electronics. If specified with DeviceNet(TM) or PROFIBUS(TM) DP digital communications, the Mf is perfectly suited for integration into higher-level automation approaches such as the DeltaV(TM) system in Emerson's PlantWeb(R) digital plant architecture. Built-in monitoring and on-line diagnostics capabilities allow users to "see" and troubleshoot their process flow control systems without removing the MFC from the line, thereby improving process efficiency and reducing downtime.

The Brooks Mf family of mass flow controllers is a rugged, industrial product line, incorporating elastomeric seals for use in harsh environmental conditions. The Brooks Mf industrial MFC is also available in an explosion-proof housing, and is UL listed (UL 1604) for Class I Division 2 Hazardous locations.
