Fume Hoods pass 3-stage ANSI/ASHRAE test.

Press Release Summary:

Featuring redesigned air plenum and directional air vanes, 90% Energy Efficient Fume Hoods create uniform, low-velocity air curtain that contains and carries away fumes inside hood to rear exhaust port. Supplemental air is not forced down and on to hood operator. Combined supplemental air and exhaust air form push-pull effect that requires minimal energy power consumption of conditioned room air while offering maximum protection to lab personnel from toxic fumes.

Original Press Release:

Innovative And Highly Energy Efficient Fume Hood Reduces Up To 90% Of Wasted Power Consumption While Offering Maximum Operator Protection

CLEVELAND, OH, JULY 27, 2007: Lab Fabricators Company announced today a redesigned air plenum and unique directional air vanes within the Energy Efficient fume hood line. The redesigned system creates a uniform, low velocity air curtain (across the hood's face) that contains and carries away the fumes inside the hood to the rear exhaust port. The supplemental air is not forced down and on to the hood operator, eliminating the discomfort experienced with other brands of hoods.

The combined supplemental air and exhaust air form a push-pull effect that requires minimal energy power consumption of conditioned room air while offering maximum protection to lab personnel from toxic fumes.

The 90% Energy Efficient fume hood is the industry's highest performing supplemental air or push-pull hood. A 90% reduction of expensive heated and air conditioned room air is achieved when the supplemental air comes from outside the laboratory. Also, the significant cost of installing new or larger air conditioning and heating equipment is reduced when additional fume hoods are installed within a laboratory. A six-foot long 90% Energy Efficient fume hood reduces the consumption of conditioned room air by approximately 130,800,000 cubic feet when compared with conventional hoods.

A savings of over $3,000 per year may be realized for each 90% Energy Efficient fume hood when converted into 2007 energy prices.

The 90% Energy Efficient fume hood passes the extensive, three-stage ANSI/ASHRAE test. The average of the three tests recorded by the probe in the gas analyzer was 0.02 P.P.M. (parts per million). An independent testing agency stated the "reason that the fume hood performed in this exceptional manner was that the supply air was evenly distributed over the face of the sash opening. This curtain of air prevented the fumes that was filling the fume hood from reaching the probe that was attached to the breathing zone of the mannequin."
