Fujitsu Positioned in Leaders Quadrant in 2007 Magic Quadrant for SONET Equipment

Fujitsu FLASHWAVE® 4000 MSPP Portfolio Evaluated for "Completeness of Vision" and "Ability to Execute"

Richardson, TX, November 08, 2007 - Fujitsu Network Communications, a leading supplier of IT and wireline/wireless networking solutions, announced today that it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the "Leaders" quadrant in their new "Magic Quadrant for SONET Equipment, 2007" report based on their completeness of vision and ability to execute.

Gartner Magic Quadrants provide a visual snapshot of a specific market by plotting the relative positions of vendors. Analysts evaluate vendors on their strengths in vision and ability to execute using a set of standard evaluation criteria.

The Gartner Magic Quadrant for SONET Equipment provides advice for those Network Service Providers (NSPs) who plan to build or update networks and invest in next-generation SONET equipment. Vendors of this equipment are evaluated against ten criteria, grouped in the two standard dimensions of Gartner's Magic Quadrants: "Completeness of Vision" and "Ability to Execute." Gartner evaluates technology providers on the quality and efficiency of the processes, systems, methods or procedures that enable IT provider performance to be competitive, efficient and effective, and to positively affect revenue, retention and reputation. Ultimately, technology providers are judged on their ability and success in capitalizing on their vision.

The Fujitsu FLASHWAVE® 4000 MSPP portfolio addresses all facets of the multiservice SONET market from the core of the network with a high-capacity switching platform to customer premises via a micro MSPP. The platforms offer service providers the ability to leverage their SONET investment and offer advanced, carrier-class Ethernet services as certified by the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF), as well as support other mission-critical data, voice and video applications. The optional NETSMART® 1500 Element Management System (EMS) further simplifies Operations, Administration, Maintenance & Provisioning (OAM&P) through a point-and-click interface.

"Gartner's SONET Magic Quadrant does a great job at helping service providers cut through the hype and understand the vendors in the space," said Jim Hintze, senior vice president of marketing at Fujitsu Network Communications. "We think our position in their 'Leaders' quadrant reflects our continued commitment to developing and manufacturing innovative multiservice SONET solutions. Just as important, however, is the ability to deliver on what we promise, which ultimately helps make our customers successful."
