ANADIGICS' New Space-Saving Low-Profile WLAN ICs Offer Complete RF Front-End Functionality to Minimize Time-to-Market for 802.11b/g, 802.11a, and 802.11n Devices

WARREN, N.J., Dec. 12 - ANADIGICS, Inc. (NASDAQ:ANAD), a leading supplier of wireless and broadband solutions, today unveiled two new front-end products for wireless LAN (WLAN) mobile and multiple input multiple output (MIMO) applications.

ANADIGICS' front-end integrated circuits (FEICs) utilize the Company's patent pending InGaP-Plus(TM) technology to offer world-class integration and performance. The low-profile FEICs combine the power amplifier, low-noise amplifier, and RF antenna switch on a single die to minimize three dimensional space requirements. The new products exhibit exceptionally low current consumption to reduce battery drain in mobile and MIMO applications.

ANADIGICS' AWL6254, for 802.11b/g applications, and AWL6255, for 802.11a applications, deliver RF power at industry-leading efficiencies. The newly introduced products are ideal for space-critical designs, such as PDAs, mobile phones, smart phones, notebook computers, and USB adapters.

The combination of AWL6254 and AWL6255 FEICs offers an ideal multi-band front-end solution for MIMO applications, which enable higher data throughput and greater WLAN coverage. These performance advantages support simultaneous multimedia wireless applications, such as high-definition (HD) video and voice over internet protocol (VoIP) streaming audio. ANADIGICS' FEICs provide the linearity, efficiency, and output power required to integrate MIMO capability into home and office multimedia appliances, such as CATV set-top boxes, LCD televisions, and videogame console systems.

The use of multiple RF transmit chains in mobile MIMO WLAN applications, such as MIMO-enable notebook computers, creates a critical battery life challenge for manufacturers. The new family of WLAN single-band FEICs consists of two solutions, both designed for applications that require European Union's Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) products. The AWL6254 operates in the 2.4 GHz band for 802.11b/g applications and the AWL6255 operates in the 5 GHz band for 802.11a applications. The AWL6254 exhibits an excellent combination of efficiency and linearity achieving an error vector magnitude (EVM) of less than 4% and current consumption of 90 mA at +17 dBm output power from the RF antenna switch. The AWL6255 achieves an EVM of less than 4% and current consumption of 90 mA at +15 dBm. The FEICs offer very low noise amplification in the receive path and superior ruggedness with 1 kV protection against electrostatic discharge (ESD).
