Frequency Synthesizer features low jitter output.

Press Release Summary:

Model SY89610L takes in selected frequency clocks between 19-694 MHz and outputs selected frequency with low jitter, typically 1 psec rms. Device input accepts ac- or dc-coupled differential signals such as LVDS, LVPECL, and CML, and incorporates LC Tank VCO and auto-tune circuit that optimizes signal performance. Available in 32-pin MLF® package, applications include SONET/SDH, 10GeB FEC, 10GeB LAN PHY, and add-drop MUXs.

Original Press Release:

Micrel Soothes Jitters with Introduction of New Outstanding Low-Cost Precision Frequency Synthesizer

SAN JOSE, Calif., June 2 /-- Micrel Inc., (NASDAQ:MCRL), an industry leader in analog, high bandwidth communications and Ethernet IC solutions, today launched the SY89610L, a Precision Frequency Synthesizer featuring ultra-low jitter. The new device is targeted at Datacom, Telecom, Servers, and Storage markets, specifically, SONET/SDH, 10GeB FEC, 10GeB LAN PHY, and Add-drop MUXs applications. The IC is currently available in volume with pricing starting at $12.84 for 1k quantities. Samples can now be ordered on line on Micrel's web site at: http://www.micrel.com/ProductList.do.

"The cost of these kind of devices can run upwards of $60 each," said Thomas S. Wong, vice president High Bandwidth products, Micrel. "Micrel's new device not only brings the cost down by a factor of nearly five, it also eliminates noise while lowering space requirements. Finally, the SY89610L tames jitter by offering output of typically 1ps_rms. Other synthesizers on the market still typically have 40ps_rms jitter."

This product takes in selected frequency clocks between 19MHz and 694MHz and puts out selected frequency with very low jitter. The device input accepts AC- or DC-coupled differential signals such as LVDS, LVPECL, and CML for maximum flexibility. This IC has an LC Tank VCO and auto-tune circuit that improves signal performance. It is offered in a space-saving, 32-pin MLF® package. Featuring less noise than devices currently on the market, the SY89610L does not require any external components, lowering BOM even further.
