PicPort-Pro-CL-Stereo Frame Grabber

Introducing a new architecture for higher performance

May 2003 Burlington, MA - Leutron Vision, Pioneer in Image Acquisition, announces the release of PicPort-Pro-CL-Stereo CameraLink digital frame-grabber. The board marks the launch of the popular PicPort series redesign by introducing a new versatile architecture based on field reprogrammable FPGA technology and support for 64-bit/66MHz PCI Bus. The board is targeted to have the highest possible performance for a very competitive price.

PicPort-Pro-CL-Stereo frame grabber acquires images from 2 base or 1 medium CameraLink cameras. In dual camera configuration, the board accepts cameras of different types in synchronous or asynchronous acquisition mode.

At the heart of the board lies the 32MB Advanced Frame Buffer (AFB) delivering in excess of 700 MB/s bandwidth. Its role is to format the incoming data into a processing-ready image. AFB handles complex tap configurations right on the board to maximize the data throughput on the PCI bus and minimize software post-formatting overheads. Other features include dynamic line and frame length sizing, multiple frame buffers, line scan camera support and many more.

PicPort-Pro-CL-Stereo has 8/8 opto-isolated, 4/4 LVDS and 8/10 TTL Inputs/Outputs for Automation integration functions such as shaft encoders. The PC backplate houses 2 CameraLink connectors plus a 12-pin Hirose connector for dual camera power (selectable 5V or 12V) plus 4/4 TTL or 2/2 LVDS Inputs/Outputs.

PicPort-Pro-CL-Stereo features a universal (+5V and +3.3V compatible) PCI bus interface that can operate at 32/64-bit, 33/66MHz.

LV-SDS (Leutron Vision Software Development Suite) is the source of development tools for PicPort and PicProdigy frame grabbers. It includes Orchid (easy to use library with ActiveX/OCX and regular function calls), Daisy (C/C++ core library), Daisy Real-time Application Library (DRAL, C/C++ core library), Video for Windows driver, Twain driver and Camera Editor (camera description utility). LV-SDS runs under Windows 9x/NT/2000/XP/Embedded, Linux (Intel based) and VxWorks (Intel based). The library offers many different ways to control the board and thus is adapted for any kind of application.

Established in 1979, Leutron Vision AG is a pioneer in image acquisition. This European company has gained a solid reputation with PicPort(r), their industrial low-end frame grabber series, and PentiCam(r), now replaced by LVmPC, their versatile embedded vision systems.
