Aisle-Master Lift Trucks Now Feature Sophisticated Air Quality System to Reduce Emissions and Improve Fuel Economy
CLEVELAND, November 2003 -- Aisle-Master Ltd. has recently announced the availability of an optional fuel control kit designed specifically for aftermarket installation on its 4-cylinder propane-fueled GM engine. The 3-way catalytic converter and fuel kit, when installed on the Aisle-Master Model 44 forklift is designed to dramatically reduce emissions and provide optimum economy.
Emissions are reduced by more than 95% and fuel economy is improved by as much as 20%.
In operation, oxygen in the exhaust is measured by a sensor that detects if combustion is optimal. The controller provides more fuel when greater power is required and reduces fuel flow when the engine is idling. There is no need for adjustment because the controller calculates exactly what fuel quantity is required.
The closed loop air/fuel ratio controller helps minimize the need for engine overhauls because the air-fuel ratio is accurately controlled, reducing sludge, corrosion and excessive engine wear.
The system ensures optimal fuel economy as well. Because emissions are significantly reduced and fuel economy improved, companies can work 2- or 3-shift operations safely around the clock indoors.
Referring to recent California Air Resources Board (CARB) initiatives and the ability of lift trucks to meet low emissions requirements, the Propane Education and Research Council stressed the need for regular preventive maintenance to keep engines, components and control systems at optimum performance.
