For Every Shield Purchased, The Canadian Shield Will Match with a Donation to Healthcare Facilities in Need

WATERLOO REGION, ON | MAY 28, 2020 - The Canadian Shield, a Waterloo Region-based Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) manufacturer, is excited to announce that it is making its reusable face shields . The PPE shields are designed in-house and can be cleaned and sanitized, reducing the cost and environmental impact associated with PPE disposal. The shields will be available for delivery across Canada and can be purchased on the company’s website in quantities of two, five, and 20.

“As the federal and provincial governments take steps to reopen the economy, it is incredibly important that everyone has access to critical PPE,” said The Canadian Shield Founder and CEO Jeremy Hedges. “By making our Canadian Shield available for consumer purchase, we hope to reduce the spread of COVID-19 while facilitating Canada’s economic recovery.”

The Canadian Shield has been extremely active fulfilling orders for Health Canada and provincial healthcare agencies across the country. The company was recently by the Government of Canada to produce 10 million face shields by August to be distributed to healthcare facilities and hospitals across the nation.

“We are currently producing double what we need to be producing to fulfill our Health Canada order. We are excited to be in a position where we can provide PPE to both front-line healthcare workers as well as consumers,” said Hedges.

Since The Canadian Shield officially launched in March 2020 by parent company , the team has significantly scaled up its operations, growing from a staff of 10 to employing over 250 people. The Canadian Shield also opened a new 50,000 square-foot facility brought and in dozens of new pieces of equipment to maximize its production quota. The company will now be supplying twothirds of the 16 million medical face shields that have been procured by the federal government from Canadian companies, with plenty of room to grow.

To celebrate the launch of The Canadian Shield’s consumer sales portal, the company is running a “buy one, give one” campaign. For every reusable shield that is purchased online, the company will be donating a shield to healthcare facilities in need including long-term care facilities, hospitals, clinics, and other critical services that do not currently have access to PPE.

Since launching the consumer sales portal, The Canadian Shield has already fulfilled over 1,000 orders. The cost of a two-pack of shields is $19.95; a five-pack is $44.95; and a 20-pack is $159.95. All prices are in Canadian dollars.
