Foedus Agrees to Become the First U.S. Distributor of the Commerx Virtual Server Grid (VSG)

Leading Integrator of Virtual Infrastructure solutions adds self-provisioning and virtual billing application to address needs of enterprise level IT organizations and Service Providers.

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. and TORONTO, Sept. 6 / - Foedus, a leader in Virtual Infrastructure technologies and services, announced today an agreement to become the first US distributor of the Commerx Virtual Server Grid (VSG), in order to better meet the utility computing requirements of both enterprise customers and service providers.

"After reviewing products across the US, Canada, and UK, we have chosen the Commerx VSG to assist our larger customers achieve the full benefits of virtualization and utility computing," said Michael Reilly, President and CEO of Foedus. "As virtualization implementations continue to grow, our customers are asking for an enterprise class provisioning and billing application to support mainstream production environments. We believe we have found one."

The Commerx VSG addresses many of the barriers to large scale utility computing models by providing a web portal for end-user provisioning and server management, as well as a method for measuring resource utilization to create billing and chargeback capabilities. The VSG also addresses the complexities of physical switch configuration and management, keeping multiple private network customers securely connected to their virtual machines across large server farms containing hundred's of x86 servers or blades.

"After two years of working with Bell Canada and the Ontario Government, it's time for us to enter the US market," according to Stuart Levinsky, President of Commerx. "While the VSG greatly simplifies the end-users experience, it requires a very high level of technical expertise to install and properly configure for the customer. We have chosen Foedus as our first distributor because of their extraordinary amount of virtualization integration experience and high levels of customer satisfaction."

Commerx Computer Systems Inc. of Toronto, Ontario, is a leading software developer of virtualization solutions. The Commerx Virtual Server Grid is a VMware-based business "wrapper" that enables a standard virtualization environment to function without the usual IT operator intervention and management. End-user, self-provisioned virtual servers can be started, stopped, and archived all at the push of a button. The application enables Service Provider customers to pay only for the resources and services utilized from within a large server grid maintained and managed within the secure data center. For enterprise customers, the VSG addresses the growing concerns about resource allocation and utility billing by monitoring up to 15 different billing metrics and making them available for standard billing reports.
