FM Approved Field Instruments offer discrete I/O.

Press Release Summary:

Multi-Input Field Units read analog and discrete values from remote locations and transmit data with no external power or signal wiring. Transceiver provides 2-way communications and operates in 900 MHz ISM license-free band. Secure FHSS technology as well as error checking and correction scheme validates accurate data are received. Instruments offer transmission range up to 3,000 ft and installation using non-invasive bolt-on brackets.

Accutech's FM Approved Wireless Multi-Input Field Units Now Offer Discrete Inputs and Outputs

Processors Verify On/Off Settings and Conditions Remotely

HUDSON, MA (March 8, 2004) - Users of measurement and control products can now benefit from the latest advance in wireless instrumentation with a multi-input field unit offered by Accutech, a Division of Adaptive Instruments. This versatile instrument provides the capability to read both analog (mA, mV, V) and discrete values (on/off, continuity, contact closure) from remote locations and reliably transmit the data with no external power or signal wiring. Output options include analog (4-20 mA), digital (Modbus) and discrete (on/off) outputs for integration with existing plant systems. Total installed cost is typically a few hundred dollars per point.

The new, self-contained Accutech Wireless Instrumentation Multi-Input Field Units enable users to add more capabilities to their control operations. These new multi-input field units are ideal for enhancing availability of data from existing instruments and enabling confirmation of related equipment status. In addition to transmitting data from sensors such as flow meters, pH meters or any instrument that has voltage or current outputs, the units can also send discrete data to verify valve position, compressor or pump status.

The Multi-input Field Unit includes a transceiver providing two-way communications operating in the 900 MHz ISM license-free band, with battery life of up to five years. Reliable, secure frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) technology as well as a robust error checking and correction scheme validates that accurate data are received. With a transmission range of up to 3,000 feet and installation using non-invasive bolt-on brackets, the wireless monitors are easily installed, even in FM approved, Class 1, Division I hazardous areas.

Accutech, a Division of Adaptive Instruments, LLC of Hudson, MA, is known for offering a broad range of microprocessor measurement, monitoring and control instrumentation (called Smart Process Instrumentation) for a wide range of industries, including refining, petrochemicals, chemicals, plastics, oil and gas production, municipal water treatment, food and beverage, and others.
