Flux-Cored Wire supports submerged arc welding.

Press Release Summary:

Suited for applications that require high strength and low H4 diffusible hydrogen weld deposits, Lincolnweld® LAC-690 produces yield strengths exceeding 690 MPa in as-welded or stress-relieved condition. Charpy V-notch test results exceed 27 J at -100°F. Self-peeling slag minimizes risk of inclusions, even in narrow gap applications. When combined with Lincolnweld® 888 flux, Lincolnweld LAC-690 is approved to be operated on both DC and AC polarities.

Lincoln Electric Offers a New Submerged Arc Flux-Cored Wire Designed for High Strength Applications

Lincolnweld® LAC-690

Cleveland - Lincoln Electric has introduced Lincolnweld® LAC-690, a low alloy flux-cored wire designed for submerged arc welding. Lincolnweld LAC-690 is ideal for applications that require high strength and low H4 diffusible hydrogen weld deposits. Additionally, the Lincolnweld LAC-690 wire is capable of producing high impact toughness at low temperatures as required by the offshore industry for applications like rack to chord joints.

When combined with Lincolnweld® 888 flux, Lincolnweld LAC-690 is approved to be operated on both DC and AC polarities. This results in increased productivity and provides users with the widest possible range of approved process capabilities.

Product characteristics include:

o High Yield Strengths - Capable of producing yield strengths exceeding 690 MPa (100 ksi) in the as-welded or stress-relieved condition

o Low Temperature Impact Properties - Charpy V-notch test results capable of exceeding 27 J (20 ftolbf) @ -73°C (-100°F) with Lincolnweld 888 flux

o Excellent Tandem, AC and DC Polarity Operation - Achieve deposition rates when used with the Lincoln Electric Power Wave® AC/DC 1000® SD welding power source

o Self-Peeling Slag - Clean and easy slag removal minimizes risk of inclusions, even in narrow gap applications

Lincolnweld LAC-690, when combined with Lincolnweld 888 flux, conforms to the following agency approvals:

AWS A5.23/A5.23M: 2007 F11A10-ECG-G-H4 & F11P6-ECG-G-H4

ABS:* 5YQM690 H5

DNV Grade:* V YM69 H5

Lloyd's Register:* 5YM69 H5

GL:* 6Y69M H5

*Lincolnweld LAC-690 with Lincolnweld 888 meets agency requirements to be operated on both AC and DC polarities.
