V2-Municipal Flowmeter with New Flow Computer Delivers High Accuracy in Tight Spaces at Economical Cost

Ideal For Water Wells, Pump Stations, Raw Water Influent,
Reclaimed Water, Finished Water Effluent, Filter and Pipe Galleries

Hemet, CA-With an advanced differential pressure flow sensing design, the V2-Municipal(TM) Flowmeter from McCrometer features built-in flow conditioning for superior accuracy with minimum upstream/downstream straight-run piping requirements, which reduces installation and plant ancillary equipment costs.

The V2-Municipal Flowmeter is the ideal new or retrofit solution in a wide range of clean water and wastewater treatment applications. It is especially useful wherever irregular or crowded piping and equipment make other solutions such as magnetic, turbine or venturi tube technology impractical or unworkable due to complex or expensive construction requirements to meet their longer straight-run piping requirements.

With a new flow computer added to its built-in flow transmitter, the V2 provides secure password-protected lock-out access. The standard configuration flow computer has easy front panel access via its membrane-type touchpad display and can be remote-mounted. Dual engineering units capability means rate and total flow functions are independent, allowing for different combinations of flow units.

The V2 comes pre-packaged and ready to install with a new built-in 3-way valve that isolates the transmitter from the process fluid flow for easy maintenance without shutting down the pipeline. It arrives wet-flow calibrated directly from the factory, taking away many of the headaches from adding a flowmeter to any flow installation.

The V2-Municipal Flowmeter accurately measures flow over a wide range of Reynolds numbers under all kinds of plant conditions and in a variety of clean and dirty fluids. It operates on the same proven operation principle as other differential pressure type Flowmeters, using the theory of conservation of energy in fluid flow through a pipe.

The V-Cone DP flow sensor designed into the V2 actually conditions fluid flow to provide a stable flow profile that increases accuracy. The flow sensor's design features a centrally-located cone inside a tube. The cone interacts with the fluid flow and reshapes the velocity profile to create a lower pressure region immediately downstream.

The pressure difference, which is exhibited between the static line pressure and the low pressure created downstream of the cone, can be measured via two pressure sensing taps. One tap is placed slightly upstream of the cone and the other is located in the downstream face of the cone itself. The pressure difference can then be incorporated into a derivation of the Bernoulli equation to determine the fluid flow rate.

The cone's central position in the line optimizes the velocity of the liquid flow at the point of measurement. It forms very short vortices as the flow passes the cone. These short vortices create a low amplitude, high frequency signal for excellent signal stability. The result is a highly stable flow profile for measurement accuracy from +1% with +0.1% repeatability over a wide flow range of 10:1. All of this is possible with a minimal straight pipe run of 0 to 3 diameters upstream and 0 to 1 diameters downstream from the flowmeter.

In addition to excellent accuracy and repeatability over a broad range, the V2 differential pressure flowmeter is suitable for a variety of applications in line sizes from 4 to 18 inches. The V2's no-moving parts design requires almost no maintenance and ensures a long life. It is also suitable for high pressure, high temperature and corrosive environment applications as well.
