Overview
Today's retailers require a powerful point-of-sale (POS) solution that enhances customer service yet is easy for operators to learn and use. Transactions must be rapid and
accurate, taking the customer through a pleasant, interactive
shopping experience.
The latest additions to the SurePoint(TM) Solution Flat Panel Touch Display family of full-color POS displays feature innovative infrared (IR) touch technology for rapid, more accurate transactions. These new products include 12.1-inch touch models (Models 2WN and 2GN) and, for the first time, introduce touch models in the larger 15-inch screen size (Models 5WN and 5GN), all designed exclusively for the rigorous demands of the POS store environment.
The new models include flat panel liquid crystal display (LCD)
technology, and can be used as interactive cashier displays, for
effective multimedia-operator training, for full-motion video
advertising, and as interactive customer displays. In addition, the 12.1-inch models can be smoothly integrated with existing POS
systems, consuming less counter space.
For maximum investment protection, these new models feature open,
industry-standard connectivity that is compatible with virtually any IBM POS or standard PC platform. Available interface choices include Powered USB, standard USB, and RS-232. Powered USB eliminates the need for separate power bricks and improves cable management.
In addition, these models are available in either a base Value
version at an entry price point or a Performance version with enhanced I/O device support.
Available in a choice of colors, these models are color-matched with any IBM POS equipment.
Iron Gray Models 2GN and 5GN come with IBM On-Site Repair (IOR)
service. These two Iron Gray models with Depot service are also available as Models 2G5 and 5G5.
Key prerequisites
o 4690 OS V3R3 plus the CSD 04H0 (when available). Only USB versions of the SurePoint Flat Panel Display are supported by
4690 OS.
o IBM Retail Environment for SuSE Linux.
o Microsoft(TM) Windows(TM) XP.
o Microsoft Windows 2000.
o IBM PC DOS 2000.
o Drivers supported:
- OPOS 1.7.0
- JavaPOS 1.7.0
o The speaker/microphone system requires an amplified audio source or sound card.
o The Performance versions of Models 2WN, 2GN, 5WN, and 5GN include support for the following optional features:
- Magnetic Stripe Reader (MSR)
- Keypad/MSR combination
- Manager's Keylock
- USB Pointing Device (USB version of 4820 required)
Feature number 1900 is required to get the Performance version.
o Two spare standard USB ports are available on the USB Performance versions of Models 2WN, 2GN, 5WN, and 5GN. Feature number 1900 is required to get the Performance version.
