Versatile Flat Cables Developed by C&M Corporation for Factory Automation Projects

Lower-profile, tighter-bend radius are ideal for restricted-space locations

WAUREGAN, CONN. July 15, 2004-C&M Corporation, an experienced maker of round cables for industrial robotics and factory automation, has developed a new capability in flat profile cables for these applications.

C&M's new flat cables feature a reduced-bend radius and low profile that allow more severe flexing in OEM equipment or in-plant installations. Where space is at a premium, these cables fit more easily and will accommodate bending, rolling and variable flex better than standard round cables.

This product capability has been developed and validated utilizing C&M's in-house Flex Lab, where application engineers have studied the effects of flex on conductors, insulation and shielding, then created suitable processes for cable extrusion, lay-up and jacketing. The initial product offering will have 12-gauge to 24-gauge conductors in cable widths to be determined by customer applications.
