Modular PCB Connector Provides Top Mount Access for High Amperage Applications
BURGAW, N.C. (August 22, 2002) - Wieland Electric Inc., a leading manufacturer of fixed and pluggable printed circuit board (PCB) connectors, has developed a terminal block series for large-pitch, high-amp applications. Designated the 8486 Top Series, the fixed terminal block is designed in two, three or four pole versions with a 7.62mm pitch spacing, ideal for high-power applications, such as power supply connections.
According to Wieland Group Product Manager, Bruce Burroughs. "The 8486 Top Series has been developed to provide a larger pitch terminal block with high amperage applications in mind. The top mount wire entry feature is excellent for wiring the block where access is limited. Providing screwdriver and wiring access on the same plane enables the design engineer to maximize PC board real estate," he explained.
The 8486 Top Series is UL rated for 300V, 30A for stranded and solid wire, sizes 22-10AWG (VDE rated for 36A). Each block is equipped with two individual solder tails per pole. Solder pins are 0.8 x .09mm with a Ø 1.3mm bore hole. Manufactured of rugged polyamide 6.6 plastic material and rated to UL 94 V-0 flammability standards, the blocks are available in both vertical and horizontal versions. The 8486 Top Series blocks provide individual marking tag facilities for quick connection identification.
