New PSC Scanner Improves Customer Service and Reduces Theft
EUGENE, Ore., Jan. 17 - PSC Inc., number one market share manufacturer in fixed position scanning products, announced today the introduction of its Magellan 9500 OmegaTek Dual Antenna, the highest performing fixed point of sale (POS) scanner in the world.

The Magellan 9500 OmegaTek reduces shrink (sweethearting) at the POS with the integrated ability to control activation of the EAS antennae. Unlike separated scanner and EAS systems, the Magellan 9500 OmegaTek uses SmartSentry(R) firmware and an RS-232 link to manage the Sensormatic ScanMax(R) Pro EAS controller. This assures that no EAS tags are deactivated unless a bar code has been read. No longer can an unsold item simply be deactivated and taken out of the store.
The Magellan 9500 OmegaTek also features a unique scale for easy and accurate produce weighing, resulting in reduced produce shrink. Advanced decoding software greatly improves the reading of poorly printed or damaged labels and oddly shaped products like egg cartons.
Providing improved first pass read rates and increased throughput at the POS, standard features include high speed electronics and the industry's most aggressive scan pattern with 6,400 scan lines per second.
