Oracle Delivers PeopleSoft Enterprise Financial Management 8.9



New Release Delivers Enhancements to PeopleSoft Financial Management and PeopleSoft Enterprise Service Automation, and Introduces PeopleSoft Asset Lifecycle Management

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Oct. 5 /-- Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL) today announced general availability of Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise Financial Management 8.9, delivering on its commitment to PeopleSoft customers to support and enhance the functionality of PeopleSoft Enterprise applications. This new release provides customer-driven enhancements and new business applications. It is a launching pad for PeopleSoft customers to migrate to Oracle(R) Project Fusion, the company's next generation of enterprise applications.

PeopleSoft Enterprise Financial Management 8.9 helps provide customers with greater levels of financial control, transparency and accountability to support various regulatory requirements, including Sarbanes-Oxley and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). The release also includes extensive enhancements around project management and risk mitigation, as well as a new suite of solutions for asset lifecycle management.

Enriching the Core Financial Management Suite
PeopleSoft Enterprise Financial Management 8.9 provides a foundation to help automate and streamline compliance processes. Enhancements to the release include cashflow statement automation, expanded features that can help companies adhere to both IFRS and local regulations and augmented financial instrument features such as extended hedge accounting, effectiveness testing and audit trails. PeopleSoft Enterprise Financial Management 8.9 works in conjunction with other PeopleSoft Enterprise offerings, such as PeopleSoft Enterprise Internal Controls Enforcer 8.9.

PeopleSoft Enterprise Financial Management 8.9 facilitates best practices in several areas, including treasury and cash management. The new PeopleSoft Enterprise Cash Management application includes a Financial Gateway, which allows companies to manage all payments from a single platform using straight-through processing. The Financial Gateway streamlines the payments and receipts cycle and delivers interoperability for major worldwide payment and bank statement formats out-of-the-box.

New Features for PeopleSoft Enterprise Service Automation
PeopleSoft Enterprise Service Automation (ESA) 8.9 offers new features for full project lifecycle management, from project selection and planning, through execution and analysis. In addition, PeopleSoft Enterprise ESA offers new industry functionality. New features in PeopleSoft Enterprise ESA 8.9 include:
-- PeopleSoft Resource Capacity Planning helps management ensure each critical project is properly staffed. Using Resource Capacity Planning, managers can create resource demand forecasts, identify resource gaps and gluts and perform what-if analyses to determine the optimal use of resources;
-- PeopleSoft Project Scheduling eliminates the need for a third-party desktop project scheduling application by offering an integrated browser-based scheduler. Project Scheduling supports dependencies and constraints, Gantt charting and offers an improved user experience for maintaining work breakdown structures;
-- PeopleSoft Project Risk Management helps identify and mitigate project risk. Using Project Risk Management, project professionals can document risk exposures, develop risk reduction plans and evaluate the effectiveness of established plans throughout the entire project lifecycle; and,
-- PeopleSoft ESA for Government Contracting enables contractors to effectively manage government contracts in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulations.

Increase Return on Assets
Organizations are realizing significant cost savings and improved planning capabilities through systems that support and integrate the entire asset lifecycle. With the release of PeopleSoft Enterprise Financial Management 8.9, Oracle introduces PeopleSoft Enterprise Asset Lifecycle Management (ALM) to integrate acquiring, maintaining and renewing the organization's asset bases. PeopleSoft Enterprise ALM is comprised of the following modules:
-- PeopleSoft Enterprise Maintenance Management supports the maintenance of infrastructure, plant and equipment - enabling organizations to streamline project planning, operations and maintenance with lower total cost of ownership;
-- PeopleSoft Enterprise IT Asset Management manages distributed IT assets including software, servers, laptops, desktops and PDAs, providing insight into physical versus financial IT inventory, to control IT costs for licenses, hardware and service; and,
-- PeopleSoft Enterprise Real Estate Management helps ensure property leases are managed according to terms and that cost and space utilization is optimized.
