FileNet Launches Business Process Framework for Case Management Solutions

Configurable Solution Development Framework Enables Rapid, Cost-Effective Development of Process-Centric Applications

COSTA MESA, Calif., Nov. 9 / -- FileNet Corporation (NASDAQ:FILE), the leading provider of Enterprise Content and Business Process Management solutions, today launched its Business Process Framework (BPF) for rapid, cost-effective development of process-centric case management applications.

The framework helps substantially reduce application development cost and time to market, enabling FileNet customers and partners to accelerate development and deployment of business-specific solutions. BPF is well suited for developing process-based case management focused solutions such as accounts payable, credit card dispute processing, loan origination, claims processing, underwriting, broker automation and contract management.

"The Business Process Framework provides a substantial head-start to customers and developers who want to deploy case management solutions based on FileNet technology," said Martyn Christian, chief marketing officer for FileNet. "BPF enables faster and easier development of custom BPM applications, reducing the associated development costs."

BPF offers a highly configurable and extensible Java architecture that helps developers leverage the power, scalability and performance of FileNet's P8 platform. FileNet P8 uniquely combines process and content capabilities to provide a responsive, integrated and event-based platform that is essential for case management based applications.

BPF offers specific features and functions that aid in case management. These include Work Distributor, which aids in initiating work items as well as attaching late-arriving documents to the work-in-progress queue, along with complex prioritization and sorting of work. Sophisticated role management helps ensure work is immediately processed by the most appropriate resource.

BPF's search capabilities enable users to locate work status quickly and easily and the configurable case user interface provides a dynamic foundation for users to perform work in a consistent and productive manner by presenting all needed data and exposing all the disposition options allowed. FileNet's Business Process Framework has been used and tested by more than 30 FileNet customer organizations throughout the financial services, insurance, government, telecommunications and manufacturing industries.

Customers are using the framework to develop a wide range of applications that:
o Automate and streamline the flow of case management activities and role-based routing to speed processing
o Improve visibility by providing a complete and unified real-time view of case files
o Leverage FileNet's comprehensive reporting and analytics capabilities to improve accountability, providing audit trails to determine how and why decisions were made
o Link IT systems so that important events automatically trigger alerts or kick-off workflows, allowing organizations to react immediately to critical events
o Streamline collaboration, enabling organizations to share and analyze data and;
o Eliminate multiple data entry and wasteful paper trails.

FileNet ValueNet partners TriTek Solutions and Ovations are both leveraging the FileNet Business Process Framework as well as their own application development platforms to develop cost effective custom BPM applications for a wide range of customer requirements.

"FileNet's case management framework empowers businesses with full process and content management control to greatly enhance operations," said Jack Finnegan, CEO, TriTek. "Featuring an intuitive Web-based interface, the case management framework helps to extend business processes across the enterprise to reduce transaction costs, standardize and streamline processing, increase operational control and improve customer service."

"FileNet has enabled us to focus on creating process-specific, value-added solutions for each customer while taking advantage of the reusable functionality of BPF," said Doug Reynolds, President, Ovations.
