Pinion Software Introduces ShareSafe File Security Solution for ProductView Graphics Server at PTC/User World Event 2007
Austin, Texas - May 30, 2007 - Pinion Software, the leading provider of Technical Rights ManagementTM (TRM) solutions, announced today a new version of its ShareSafe(TM) file protection solution that extends the security capabilities of ProductView Graphics Server, a PTC visual collaboration platform. ShareSafe adds a powerful, yet transparent, level of continuous data protection during design collaboration, outsourced contract manufacturing, and other technical business processes where high-value CAD data and engineering information is shared via the Internet with partners, vendors, or contractors. Pinion Software has seamlessly integrated an embeddable file-security packaging engine with corporate directory adapters to integrate powerful rights management and file security in a seamless manner inside the ProductView Graphics Server. Users of PTC ProductView Graphics Server can protect and share files in their native application format while retaining continuous control over how the information is used by recipients, both inside and outside the corporate firewall.

Embeddable Security for ProductView Graphics Server and other Data Management Systems
The ShareSafe packaging engine protects information provisioned out of ProductView Graphics Server by applying in-use restrictions that travel with the files no matter where they are sent. Security may be automatically applied to files based on business rules and policies defined in the system, for example like user roles or file type. Using extensible programming interface tools, the packaging engine can be customized to "plug-in" to a variety of other PLM or data-management systems.
Packaged Integration Adaptors To Leverage Company Directories for User Identity
Pinion Software offers packaged Directory Adaptors to support the integration of its file security products with existing corporate directories and systems that manage user identities, e.g. Active Directory, Lotus/Domino, LDAP, etc. Directory Adaptors leverage user identity and group definitions in the corporate directory system and correlate authentication credentials with unique Pinion identifiers that are associated with individual recipients of secure content. Protected files are then addressable to specific users or groups defined in the directory and forwarding to unauthorized recipients may be blocked.
