Omron's New E3X-DAS Fiber Sensor Combines Convenient Setup With Advanced Functions

SCHAUMBURG, IL (June 25, 2003)-The new E3X-DAS fiber optic sensor from Omron features a power tuning function, which enables the sensor to address a wide range of applications without the complicated setup that is typically involved. With a simple push of a button, this sensor automatically shifts the power level to the optimum level to any sensing condition. This function also eliminates sensor variations that are inherent in any sensor. The E3X-DAS is also equipped with a dual display that allows users to view both the set point and the current incident level at the same time. Users are able to change the set point, while monitoring the incident level, which facilitates sensor configuration.

The E3X-DAS also provides excellent stability by incorporating an Auto Power Control circuit that compensates for LED degradation, and a 4-element LED, which is formulated to further reduce degradation to the absolute minimum. This sensor comes equipped with other advanced functions such as differential mode that enables it to detect small light difference; counter function that eliminates the need for a separate counter; remote input function; and a function lock that prevents sensor tampering.

The new sensor is ideal for high-speed material handling/packaging sorting operations; electronics packaging, including small parts and fine wires; as well as pharmaceutical applications such as pill counting.

The Omron E3X-DAS sensor is currently available from stock at a cost of $170. Sensors featuring dual output or remote setting are slightly more.
