Fiber Optic Test Instrument Simulates Field Applications Exactly
A new test instrument that simulates field applications exactly for anyone designing, developing, manufacturing, or using fiber optic products and systems is being introduced by M2 Optics, Inc. of Los Angeles, California.
The M2 Fiber Lab 3200(TM) is a fiber management package which houses
individual spools of fiber that provide 1-, 2-, 4-, or 8 dB of real fiber attenuation or up to 25 km in each of four (4) individual attenuation areas. Featuring standard SC-APC connectors on the front panel (other types optional), the spools can be connected in series with short patch cords to provide the real fiber attenuation required to simulate an actual application.
Eliminating fiber crimping and breakage, the M2 Fiber Lab 3200(TM) can be ordered with a variety of connector interfaces, types of fiber, attenuation specified at 1310 nm or 1550 nm, and with standard SMF-28 fiber or other single or multimode fiber types, as required. Suitable for bench top or 19" rack mounting, applications include development labs, manufacturing test
areas, field testing, central offices, head ends, and hub sites.
