Lumex Introduces Industry's First Fault Indicator Designed for Use with Surface-Mount Technology LEDs
PALATINE, IL--Lumex, Inc. is announcing its new LPF-C041304S Right Angle Quad LED Fault Indicator. An industry first, this passive light guide is designed for use with surface-mount technology (SMT) LEDs. Lumex's new Right Angle Quad LED Fault Indicator snaps into any standard circuit board, fitting over four SMT LEDs. Its right-angle design carries the light from those LEDs to a front panel. This new device is ideal for use wherever light must be moved from circuit board-mounted SMT LEDs to any nearby front panel, providing an easy-to-see, horizontal indication of fault, status, or level. The latest addition to Lumex's Light Pipes family allows the design engineer unprecedented packaging freedom, while also simplifying product assembly, reducing installed cost, and increasing product reliability. The LPF-C041304S is made of clear UL 94V-O-rated polycarbonate, and it can be used with LEDs of any color. It is designed for use with Lumex's SML-LX1206 Series of SMT LEDs. In addition, this quad right-angle horizontal unit can be stacked with its mate, (Lumex part number LPF-C041303S), to provide a total of eight front-panel indicators. The LPF-C041304S has four, round 2.8mm (0.110-inch) indicators, on 5.08mm (0.200-inch) centers. The distance from the center-line of the board-mounted LEDs to the faces of each of the four indicators is 16.0mm (0.630-inch).
