Fastech to Add HIPAA Certification to On Demand Data Center

PHILADELPHIA, March 9 -- Fastech Integrated Solutions, a leading Software as a Service (SaaS) provider that enables high-technology companies to deliver superior web-based OnDemand solutions, announced today that it will complete the certification process to offer HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) compliance to its customers.

"Having recently completed SAS 70 Type I certification with an independent auditor and expecting to complete Type II certification soon, we continue to create value for customers by adding HIPAA certification. Established by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), SAS 70 certification provides assurances that data center controls are suitably designed, that these controls are operating effectively, and provides guidance for independent auditors who issue reports on the processing of transactions by service organizations such as OnDemand software providers. Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 requires that publicly traded financial and service companies comply with SAS 70 regulations. The Department of Health and Human Services mandates standards-based implementations of HIPAA by all health care organizations that create, store or transmit electronic protected health information. Non-compliance can trigger fines and/or imprisonment.
