Original Press Release:

Fan-Free Industrial Microcomputers Keep You up to Speed from 0 to 55 Degrees

A new fan-free CPU for the Sicomp IMC industrial microcomputers from Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) provides full performance across the entire system temperature range from 0 to 55 degrees Celsius without throttling. This is a special advantage in industrial real-time applications with fixed response times, such as are found in miniature circuit-breakers, standard and special mechanical equipment manufacture, and embedded automation systems. The new version of the Sicomp CPU086 is equipped with the energy-saving Intel Pentium M 600MHz processor with low heat loss. This enables fan-free operation, increases the MTBF (mean time between failures) and protects the system components, allowing you to establish low-maintenance and cost-effective computer systems thanks to smaller power supplies, for example, or hard disks with a lower permissible operating temperature. The new CPU is equipped with a 256MB main memory, expandable to 1.28GB, and it has extensive interfaces including USB 2.0 (3x), VGA, COM1, COM2 and PS2 for mouse and keyboard. The new CPU is suitable both for CPCI computer systems, a standard for high-performance microcomputers with direct connectors, and for SMP16 bus systems characterized by low-cost I/O modules in single-height Eurocard format.
