Factiva Links Company Data with Microsoft Virtual Earth to Create Mapping Solution for Sales Professionals

Mash-up Provides Graphical Views of Territories for More Efficient Prospecting and Selling

NEW YORK, Oct. 17 -- Factiva®, a Dow Jones and Reuters Company, announced today that Factiva has linked company data from Factiva SalesWorks(TM) to Microsoft® Virtual Earth(TM) -- Microsoft's next-generation mapping and location service -- to create a visual company mapping solution. Factiva SalesWorks is a sales intelligence tool that includes a comprehensive collection of company, industry and executive news and information designed specifically to help salespeople increase productivity.

The combination of Factiva SalesWorks with Microsoft Virtual Earth provides users with the ability to generate prospecting lists based on criteria such as industry sector, revenue, number of employees and recent key news events and then plot the resulting list of prospects on a map. Standard mapping features such as driving directions and zoom in and out functions are also included. The mash-up capability creates greater efficiencies for salespeople by generating geographically targeted prospecting and customer lists, which allow them to uncover new business opportunities and maximize their time by scheduling customer visits in close proximity to one another. In addition, sales management have a new tool to help them create opportunity-based geographic territories.

Alan Scott, Chief Marketing Officer of Factiva, said, "Factiva is committed to innovating solutions that help salespeople do their jobs better. Part of our broader strategy is to transform the way salespeople compete in today's marketplace by introducing visualization of relevant data. Since salespeople have responsibilities that directly impact their company's bottom line, they need to be efficient and focused on selling, not searching for information. Our tools help them do just that."

Factiva SalesWorks has always armed sales professionals with key information to better target prospects and close deals faster. Building on Factiva's commitment to meeting customer needs, Factiva continues to extend the depth of information about companies.
