F4W's Core Alert Products Now Available for Education, Healthcare and Private Business

LAKE MARY, Fla. -- F4W, Inc. (F4W), a software development company focused on delivering simple, encrypted, interoperable and affordable communications solutions, announced today their Core Alert mass notification products are expanding from the Federal government space, where they have been in wide use, into the Education, Healthcare and Private marketplaces where they are sorely needed.

Mass notification systems today tend to be too complicated or too expensive, utilizing outdated or wholly ineffective technologies. For example, per an AT&T spokesperson via FierceWireless.com, "... SMS is not a real-time communications service, but a best-effort, store-and-forward service. The store-and-forward system design makes SMS unreliable and prone to unacceptable delays for purposes of emergency communications ... it is virtually impossible to guarantee a real-time two-way text communications exchange using SMS technology. SMS was never designed nor deployed to provide any time-sensitive, mission-critical service."

Conduct a Google search for "alert system failure" and a myriad of stories will appear detailing the inability of the very systems entrusted to save lives when put into a real-world test. Not only do these failures come with the potential for human tragedy, they are now followed by fiscal penalty if an educational institution failed to meet the Clery Act, or a hospital or a property management company is found liable for the inability to notify people of an emergency.

"The dilemma is real; how do we notify people of an immediate danger and get them the information they need to react appropriately? The answer is not in an expensive, system-wide, server-based solution that may take months to implement. The answer is in our simple, cost-effective Core Alert products. Where an entire school district can have a mass notification tool for as little as twenty-nine dollars a month for each school and be set up within 24 hours. Where you can be assured that your message gets to everyone's desktops, every public information display and soon to every smartphone at a fraction of what it costs to implement anything else," said Keith Money, COO of F4W.

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act is a federal statute that requires all colleges and universities that participate in federal financial aid programs to give timely warnings of crimes that represent a threat to the safety of students or employees.

The Department of Education fined the Virginia Tech University $55,000 on March 29, 2011 for their failure to issue a timely warning in response to the shootings at West Ambler Johnson. In announcing the fine against the university, the director of a department panel which reviewed the case was quoted as saying "... Virginia Tech's violations warrant a fine far in excess of what is currently permissible under the statute ...."
