Vigilant to Incorporate Extreme's Imaging Technology into LPR Platform
Extreme CCTV International Inc., a division of Extreme CCTV Inc. (TSX:EXC), announces that Vigilant Video (www.vigilantvideo.com) of Livermore, California, an emerging leader of advanced video analytics solutions, has selected Extreme's imaging technology for integration into its flagship CarDetector(TM) license plate recognition (LPR) system platform. CarDetector(TM), which is targeted for important law enforcement applications, recently passed trial-testing with Cisco's 3200 Series mobile access router, resulting in automated intelligent license plate reading through Cisco's city-wide wireless Mesh networks.
Custom engineered for advanced performance, Extreme's exclusive camera design for the project is derived from its popular REG® product family, originally developed at Derwent Systems, Extreme's UK-based Center of Excellence for license plate capture. REG® is now installed at thousands of locations for a variety of mobile and fixed applications including highways, gated communities, tolling stations, parking infrastructure and industrial sites.
CarDetector(TM) features an innovative video analysis engine that automatically scans, detects and performs LPR for important security and law enforcement applications. The CarDetector(TM) platform brings an unprecedented level of capability to law enforcement authorities, giving officers instant in-field access to a wealth of vehicle and owner data. Using artificial intelligence and state-of-theart sensor technology, CarDetector(TM) scans and captures license plate information, triggering automatic alarms for positive matches against federal, state and local databases of stolen vehicles and other criminal activities.
Available in both mobile and static platforms, CarDetector(TM) also provides immediate access to invaluable information on vehicle insurance and registration records.
Test trials have successfully demonstrated the effectiveness of Extreme's imaging technology in the CarDetector(TM) system platform and Vigilant has already placed initial orders for Extreme's exclusive design. Customer details and sales revenue projections are being withheld for confidentiality.
