DÃ¼sseldorf - Prolonged freshness and striking looks: by presenting ThermoSkinÂ® at Interpack 2011, packaging specialist SEALPAC highlights a fully automated solution on its thermoformers that provides added value to meat, poultry, game or seafood products. The innovative ThermoSkinÂ® packs are characterized by both deep vacuum, which ensures extended shelf life, and attractive optics, which guarantee highest product awareness at retail.

ThermoSkinÂ® - beneficial in every way

With the ThermoSkinÂ® solution, the product is loaded into the thermoformed pack and hermetically sealed with a highly transparent skin film by using vacuum technology. In the process, the top film smoothly covers the product and precisely fits its contours like a second skin. Due to the perfect fit of the skin film, drip-loss is prevented and the product is securely fixated in the pack. This makes ThermoSkinÂ® packs perfectly suitable for vertical product presentation at retail. As the skin film lies directly on top of the product, contamination is prevented, which makes the solution especially beneficial for marinated products. The result is a high quality pack with an immaculate presentation of the fresh or pre-matured product - ideal in supporting brand image, perfectly tuned to products that require post-maturation during storage.

Many variations - second sealing or higher altitudes

ThermoSkinÂ® packs by SEALPAC can optionally be produced with a second sealing. The created head room can be sealed under MAP and provides space for extras such as seasonings, in-pack promotions or recipes. Different opening aids allow for effortless removal of the top film. ThermoSkinÂ® can even be applied for products that protrude the sealing edge: with ThermoSkinÂ® plus, products with protrusion up to 6 mm above the sealing edge are hermetically sealed, while the ThermoSkinÂ® Xplus system even allows for a product protrusion of up to 20 mm. Here, the form-stable film prevents any penetration of sharp or protruding product parts.

Maximum flexibility with SEALPAC

SEALPAC's unique ThermoSkinÂ® system represents maximum flexibility in different ways: ThermoSkinÂ® packs are produced on all of SEALPAC's standard thermoformers, such as the RE25 and RE30, which only need specific toolings. Therefore, they can also be used for other applications. This matches SEALPAC's goal to optimize flexibility in the production area by designing and manufacturing multi-purpose machines. Furthermore, the ThermoSkinÂ® system allows the use of all common high quality skin films, so that maximum flexibility is also provided in the area of packaging materials.
