Bilco Offers Transit System Emergency Evacuation Doors
WEST HAVEN, CT/May 6, 2005 The Bilco Company, manufacturer of specialty access products for residential and architectural applications, now offers emergency evacuation doors designed specifically for underground rapid transit systems.
Bilco's JD and JD-AL Emergency Evacuation Doors provide egress from underground platforms and tunnels in emergency situations. To facilitate a safe escape in an emergency situation, doors are equipped with a stainless steel panic lock and compression spring operators for smooth, easy operation. For added safety, doors also feature handrails to aid emergency egress as well as custom interior and exterior signage.
To ensure reliable performance in sidewalk applications where there is high pedestrian and occasional vehicular traffic, doors are reinforced for AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) H20 wheel loading. Bilco Emergency Evacuation Doors are offered in aluminum or steel construction and are available with a number of modifications to meet the requirements of any transit system.
