Eurocom Uses Thomson's Cirpack SoftSwitches for Large Deployment of VoIP with Fixed Mobile Convergence in Lithuania

Thomson's Cirpack SoftSwitches selected by Eurocom for Class 5, IP Centrex and PBX trunking with Fixed Mobile Convergence planned for early 2007

Paris September 19, 2006 - Thomson (Euronext 18453; NYSE; TMS) has deployed its first Cirpack SoftSwitches in Lithuania, with the launch today of Eurocom's nationwide VoIP offering for business and residential users. Eurocom, a mobile and fixed line operator, belongs to the VP group - the largest group of privately owned companies in the Baltics. Eurocom will be using Cirpack SoftSwitches to manage full class 5, IP Centrex and PBX trunking services, with plans to launch packaged fixed mobile convergence solutions in early 2007. This is the first project of this scale to be launched on the Lithuanian market.

French VoIP success stories are inspiration

Luidvikas Andriulis, Eurocom's CEO has been monitoring with interest the success models of alternative operators in France using Cirpack softswitches, who have collectively gained over 15 percent of the French voice market in less than three years. He commented "We believe VoIP will become a mass service in Lithuania. The success of Thomson's Cirpack projects with other operators all over Europe convinced us that the Cirpack MultiNode-B was the solution we needed to strongly challenge this difficult-to-crack market. Another reason for choosing Thomson is that we will be able to easily add advanced services such as Fixed-Mobile Convergence (where the Cirpack platform is already leading the way) and Triple Play, using Thomson's SmartVision IPTV platform. We have also called upon the expertise of partners such as Mediafon and Geka Communications to fully integrate the Cirpack SoftSwitch to both its core network and back office equipment."

Jean-Pierre Dumolard, General Manager, Thomson's Network Intelligence Solutions continued "Lithuania has a sophisticated communications market and Internet use is growing significantly. We believe we can help Eurocom to achieve their objectives and go still further, introducing new services at competitive prices over both fixed and mobile devices. Eurocom is Thomson's first Cirpack client in Lithuania and this reinforces the strong growth our solutions are enjoying in the Baltic states, such as our recent Fixed-Mobile Convergence launch with Estonian provider, Telegrupp."
