September 2002, Waterloo, Canada. Woodhead Connectivity proudly announces the addition of a software version to its family of Ethernet communication solutions.
The applicom SW1000ETH Ethernet software drivers allow you to use a standard off-the-shelf Ethernet interface card to connect a PC to Industrial Ethernet. This solution provides a cost-effective alternative where timing is not critical and unsolicited data is not required. These drivers are available under Windows XP, 2000 and NT and provide connection to the following Industrial Ethernet protocols; Siemens Industrial Ethernet, Schneider Electric Open Modbus and Uni-Te, Omron FINS, Mitsubishi Melsec, GE Fanuc SRTP, and Alstrom SRTP.
If performance and timing are critical to your application, then the applicom PCI2000ETH Ethernet interface card is a solid choice. The built-in processor allows the PCI2000ETH card to be independent of the operating system. Because it provides 50% more throughput, it is ideal for applications where performance is critical. The on-board processor creates a consistency in the scan timing to provide a true, real-time interface. The applicom Ethernet interface card is available with two built-in ports for added functionality. By using one port to communicate on a Serial network and the other on an Ethernet network, the card acts like a bridge between a Serial device and Ethernet. It can also be used to minimize computer requirements because it allows one computer to be used for both programming and data acquisition.
The applicom solution supports Windows XP, 2000, NT, 98, VxWorks, VenturCom RTX, and Linux toolkit. Industrial Ethernet protocols currently supported include Rockwell EtherNet/IP, Siemens Industrial Ethernet, Schneider Electric Open Modbus and Uni-Te, Omron FINS, GE Fanuc SRTP, Mitsubishi Melsec, Alstrom SRTP, and Altus Alnet II.
For both the hardware and software solutions, OPC, DDE and SuiteLink data servers are included. These servers automatically optimise the data access for higher performance. For user-specific developments, an ActiveX control is provided to program your applications with tools such as Visual Basic, C, and Delphi. Powerful ergonomic tools included in the package perform tests, analyse network traffic and check the validity of the data to provide users with a fast diagnosis of their industrial communication.
Woodhead RJ-Lnxx® Industrial Ethernet switches and physical media products complement the applicom Ethernet Communications Solution. RJ-Lnxx products provide an IP67 physical connection between devices communicating on Ethernet in adverse conditions.
