ANDA Networks Launches New EtherReach(TM) 2000 Series to Easily Migrate Frame Relay Customers to Ethernet Service
ANDA's New Products Offer Fine Grained Quality of Service and Bandwidth Management Enabling Carriers to Offer Differentiated Ethernet Service Offerings
TelecomNEXT, LAS VEGAS, March 20 / -- ANDA Networks, the leader in carrier-class solutions for fiber and copper-based access networks, announced today the EtherReach(TM) Series 2118 and 2210, the latest additions to the EtherReach(TM) 2000 product family. As carriers face increasing demand for advanced packet-based Ethernet services, ANDA's new EtherReach series enables them to easily migrate their frame relay or ATM customers to a native Ethernet service while also seamlessly introducing Ethernet services over a common transport infrastructure.
The new EtherReach series from ANDA is the first platform to offer the Quality of Service (QoS) and rate-limiting granularity in 64 kbps increments that enable service providers flexibility to deliver converged broadband data and IP services within the same bandwidth offerings typically delivered via Frame Relay or ATM services today. The new EtherReach series supports large-scale migration of legacy network traffic from Frame Relay into Ethernet seamlessly.
Due to the converged services requirements of running multiple applications over a single Ethernet service, multiple services including VoIP, video, mission critical data, and Internet access require mechanisms to delineate and manage unique classes and quality of service levels as tariffed by carriers delivering multiple services over a single Ethernet connection. Each of these carrier service types will require its own separate VLANs for Ethernet Virtual Circuits (EVCs) based on customers' class of service types selected by their end-users. For example, government organizations supporting police, library, and school districts require different levels of priority and quality of service levels which can vary by department and its users within the department requiring a large number of managed VLANs per Ethernet connection. The new EtherReach 2118 and 2210 supports up to 128 VLANs per Ethernet port allowing carriers to offer multiple services types over a single Ethernet private line.
By enabling fine-grained QoS, rate-limiting intelligence and 128 VLANs per Ethernet port within the new EtherReach 2118 and 2210, carriers can now offer highly differentiated services based on quality of service and bandwidth requirements consistent with their existing legacy packet data offerings such as Frame Relay or ATM, while virtually removing the limitation of the number of applications and departmental groups within a given Ethernet port. ANDA's new EtherReach 2000 products offer carriers cost-effective flexibility and feature capabilities to easily expand and manage differentiated Ethernet service offerings above and beyond a typical Ethernet Private line pipe.
The new ANDA EtherReach 2000 products will support optional X.86 or standard Generic Framing Protocol (GFP) for NxT1/E1 on the current EtherReach 2108 and the new EtherReach 2118, and DS3/E3 interfaces on the current EtherReach 2200 and the new EtherReach 2210. This further enables carriers to leverage their existing ANDA investments while migrating to a pure IP/MPLS network wherever it is feasible and economically attractive. In addition, the new EtherReach 2118 and 2210 each include two 10/100BaseT subscriber interfaces, or can be configured to support one 10/100BaseT and one 100FX SFP connection for reaching customers within a high rise or to eliminate the need for additional external media converters.
The new EtherReach 2118 and 2210 deliver Ethernet and TDM service bundles over the existing access infrastructure. By enabling 128 VLAN and 64kbps policing without requiring expensive and time-consuming new fiber builds, the new product accelerates the migration from circuit to packet-based services by bonding existing T1s or over DS3 into a single virtual transport pipe. The new unsurpassed VLAN, policing and QoS features support carriers' new converged managed service offerings including VoIP, streaming video, videoconferencing, Ethernet access and remote SAN.
