Pulsar(R) Estimating Software Updated For 2002

FORESTDALE, MA (Jan. 7) - Estimating Systems, Inc., (ESI) has announced the availability of the latest PULSAR Construction Cost Estimating Software containing the 2002 R.S. Means Cost Data. PULSAR Estimating Software is widely used by military bases and government agencies nationwide using Job Order Contracting (JOC) and Simplified Acquisition of Base Engineering Requirements (SABER) methodologies for construction bid delivery.

The 2002 version of PULSAR has improved the speed and ease of use of the software, incorporating:
* New reporting formats;
* Easy-to-use exporting of data to spreadsheets and word processing formats;
* More flexible back-up/restore operations; and
* Expanded City Cost Indices.

PULSAR uses the R.S. Means Cost Database, which includes over 40,000 construction line items containing labor, materials and equipment costs, adjusted by city, for 715 geographic areas around the country.

According to Allan Cleveland, General Manager of ESI, "In addition to military bases and government agencies, a number of universities, State Prisons and private corporations are increasingly using JOC and SABER methodologies in their construction estimating processes. PULSAR, which is GSA approved, greatly simplifies this task.

"Furthermore, PULSAR's screens and reports enable users to simultaneously display the Means and construction bid data, enabling users to quickly see whether the units of measure and actual costs quoted are acceptable," he adds.

A mere cursor click allows users to export estimating data from PULSAR to either spreadsheet or word processing programs.

"This enhanced feature makes it easier for users to track the history of a project and maintain archival records," comments Cleveland.

PULSAR Estimating Software is available for public or private sector use, is GSA approved, and is available for use in WindowsR 95/98/2000 NT and XP operating systems. ESI is the leading re-seller of electronic cost data from R.S. Means Company, Inc.
