Enviance Powers Syngenta's Corporate SustainabiIity Program

Leading Agribusiness Utilizes Internet-based Corporate Social Responsibility Software to Maintain its High Standing on the Dow Jones Sustainability

CARLSBAD, CA - Enviance, the leading provider of Internet-based, on-demand systems for the management and automation of environmental, health and safety (EHS) and greenhouse gas (GHG) compliance activities, today congratulates Syngenta (NYSE: SYT) for leveraging the Enviance System to maintain its exceptional Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) ranking on the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) and the Dow Jones STOXX Sustainability Index (DJSI STOXX).

The Enviance System is the market's only Internet-based Software as a Service platform that allows companies to centrally manage and report, in real-time, all CSR data, including: GHG, Title V (air), Sarbanes Oxley, water and waste requirements among many others. Sustainability software as a service is now being used by a number of Fortune 100 companies worldwide, including Syngenta.

Beginning in 2006, Syngenta deployed the Enviance platform in 37 countries to centrally manage GHG and sustainability emissions data for shareholder and public reporting. The Enviance System allows Syngenta to instantly draw upon a centralized, validated database to meet the reporting requirements for multiple indices and protocols, including the DJSI STOXX indexes.

"Syngenta selected Enviance, because it offers a full service package without taxing our IT department. In addition, the platform's flexibility allows for easy data entry, comprehensive reporting, and scalability," stated David Dettwiler, Global HSEQ Systems Manager for Syngenta. "With Enviance as our central, standardized information system, we have ensured the quality and reliability of our CSR and GHG data, and have substantially reduced the cost of collecting, managing and responsibly reporting this data from the 37 countries in which we operate."

The DJSI STOXX captures the performance of the best 20 percent in terms of sustainability in the Dow Jones STOXX 600 Index. Companies are re-evaluated each year on the basis of their performance in a wide range of economic, social, and environmental criteria with only the top ten percent qualifying as members of the DJSI World.

Syngenta has been reporting on its corporate responsibility performance since 2003 and has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes since 2006. In this year's assessment, Syngenta again achieved high scores for its environmental performance including its carbon efficiency with the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions relative to earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) by 40% by 2012 compared to 2006.

"In achieving its superlative CSR ranking for this year, Syngenta continues to earn its spot amongst the elite global corporate citizens," said Lawrence Goldenhersh, president and CEO of Enviance. "Maintaining its standing on these two globally recognized sustainability indexes for such a long period of time is an incredible achievement, and we are extremely proud that Syngenta relies on Enviance for its data collection, analysis, measurement and reduction initiatives around the world."

On October 7th, Syngenta was one of the companies featured in a free webinar focused on effectively managing and reporting on sustainability metrics for reducing a company's environmental footprint while enhancing relationships with key stakeholders. The presentation featured links between CSR, sustainability and the bottom line along with real-world case studies of corporations that actively use sustainability software to manage their CSR initiatives. On December 9th, Enviance hosted a follow up webinar focused on the greenhouse gas management market and how some companies are managing their emissions.
