Notes

1. Approximately 30 percent performance improvements

The comparison is made by per core performance.

The per core performance is calculated by dividing measured per socket values by the number of cores per socket.

--  38.4 per core = 307 divided by 8 cores, where 307 is measured with the following conditions.

--  Fujitsu M10-1 server with SPARC64 X+ (3.7GHz, 8 core) processor

--  Oracle Solaris 11.2  SRU6.4--  Version 12.4 of Oracle Solaris Studio

--  29.3 per core =468 divided by 16 cores, where 468 is measured with the following conditions.

--  Fujitsu M10-1 server with SPARC64 X+ (3.2GHz, 16 core) processor

--  Oracle Solaris 11.1 SRU15.4

--  Version 12.3 of Oracle Solaris Studio  10/13 Patch Set

Details and the latest information on this benchmark will be published on the SPEC® webpages at http://www.spec.org.  New models benchmark results have been submitted to SPEC.

2. The Fujitsu M10 server family

Fujitsu M10 SPARC servers are flexible and scalable systems that deliver high performance and mission-critical reliability for enterprise-class workloads. These high-performance servers are based on Fujitsu SPARC64 X+/X processors and run Oracle Solaris. Fujitsu M10 servers are available as space saving single-socket 1U entry-level Fujitsu M10-1, compact 4-socket 4U M10-4 as well as scalable M10-4S models. Fujitsu M10 servers feature key technologies such as CPU core activation and building block architecture to lower the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). Fujitsu M10 servers are sold as SPARC M10 by Fujitsu in Japan. Fujitsu M10 and SPARC M10 are identical products.

Fujitsu is a Diamond level member of Oracle Partner Network (OPN).

3. Software on Chip (SWoC)

"Software on Chip" is a set of innovative Fujitsu M10 technologies that provide faster results by taking processes e.g. decimal arithmetic processing, high performance computing arithmetic computational extension and cryptographic processing, previously handled by software and implementing them in the processor hardware.
