Lincoln Electric Launches New Rugged 500-Amp Engine-Driven Welder for Construction, Maintenance and Repair Applications in Extreme Conditions

Big Red(TM) 500 offers straight-forward stick, TIG and arc gouging capabilities

Big Red(TM) 500
Cleveland - Welding in remote locations requires a rugged machine that consistently performs under extreme conditions. The new Big Red(TM) 500 from Lincoln Electric is that machine. This 500-amp engine-driven welder/generator is specifically designed to deliver consistent stick, TIG and arc gouging for outdoor construction, maintenance and repair applications.

To maintain a high level of reliability in jungles, deserts and other extreme environments, the Big Red 500 includes no PC boards, but instead is built using proven reactor technology and the internationally popular 3-cylinder Deutz® D2011L3i oil/air-cooled industrial diesel engine.

The 32 H.P. 1800 rpm engine is EPA Tier 4i rated and includes protection for low oil pressure and high temperatures. Adding to its durability, the machine is constructed with a heavy gauge steel base, frame, case sides and roof, resulting in an IP23 enclosure rating.

The Big Red 500 offers 500 amps for high-output DC stick and DC TIG welding, as well as up to 8 mm (5/16 in.) carbon arc gouging. This engine-driven welder / generator is Desert Duty(TM) Rated, providing rated welding outputs for extreme temperature operation up to 55° C (131° F).

The Big Red 500 also features versatile receptacle connections for 60 Hz AC generator power, allowing for the operation of common construction tools. This includes powering:
- 2,400 watts, 120V NEMA receptacle
- 1,800 watts, 120V EURO receptacle
- 120V receptacles are GFCI protected
- 3,600 watts, 240V EURO receptacle, with a port for easily adding a residual current device (RCD)
