Emergency Inverters deliver continuous power for lights.

Press Release Summary:

Power-interrupt system, PCF-84, provides 90 min of universally compatible emergency power to operate CFL, linear fluorescent, incandescent, or resistive loads up to full rating of system. Fast-transfer line voltage to emergency power system, PCF-FT, turns any fixture into emergency lighting fixture. It operates HID lighting as well as other critical loads that do not tolerate interruptions during a power outage. Unit provides 500 VA min and is field-expandable to 2,000 VA max.

Original Press Release:

For a Post-9/11 World, Highlites Introduces PCF-84 and PCF-FT Fast Transfer Emergency Power Inverters

New Products: PCF-84 and PCF-FT Series. Power-interrupt and fast-transfer AC emergency power inverter systems. The new Highlites units ably handle fluorescent, incandescent and HID lighting fixtures, and other current-resistive electrical equipment.

Designs: Highlites/JJI In-House Product Design and Engineering

Manufacturer: Highlites, Inc., a division of the JJI Lighting Group, Inc.

Product Applications: Both PCF-84 and PCF-FT are ideal for use in banks, brokerage offices, general offices, schools and universities, airports and other environs where reliable, continuous power for illumination is critical.

Product Descriptions PCF-84 is a power-interrupt system. It operates compact fluorescent, linear fluorescent, incandescent or resistive loads up to the full rating of the system. Fluorescent lamps provide a minimum 91% light output in emergency mode.

PCF-84 has field-selectable input voltage of either 120V or 277V, with the same output voltage. It operates both "Normally On" or "Normally Off" power loads and can accommodate locally activated switching.

PCF-84 provides 90 minutes of universally compatible emergency power to fluorescent lighting fixtures. It handles all lighting fixtures and other loads, and is available in surface, recessed or grid-ceiling configurations. Self-testing and diagnostics; remote test switches and special finishes are other options available.

PCF-FT is a fast-transfer line voltage to emergency power system. There is no interruption of the load during a power failure. The unit operates HID lighting as well as other critical loads that do not tolerate interruptions during a power outage. PCF-FT is available with 120 or 277 VAC input/output; other voltages available upon request.

PCF-FT can be either floor or wall mounted. The system provides a minimum 500 VA and is "field expandable" to a maximum 2000 VA of power. The electronics module is a mere 26 inches wide, by 10 inches high, by 10 inches deep. A separate battery module of the same physical dimensions is required for 90 minutes of operation for every 500 VA increase in power to a maximum of 2000 VA.

Standard PCF-FT equipment includes 11 alarm and 11 meter functions, accessible through an on-board microprocessor-controlled two-line, 20-character front panel display. Equipped with self-test and diagnostic functions, units can be user programmed. They record and store up to 75 alarm occurrences, 75 "events" and up to 50 test functions in microprocessor memory. All functions can be password protected.

With the ability to remote-mount a unit from the load, PCF-FT, with a true sine-wave output, turns any fixture into an emergency lighting fixture. There is no longer a need to specify or use specialized fixtures for hazardous locations, wet locations, sealed and gasketed or vandal-resistant applications, then find emergency fixtures to meet the same requirements.

Any existing or specified fixture can now provide emergency or egress lighting. Fixture photometries remain the same in both normal utility and emergency operation, so calculated foot-candle levels are identical.

When normal power resumes, a fully automatic, temperature-compensating, variable-rate float charger restores batteries to full charge.

Construction & Finishes: PCF-84 and PCF-FT Series emergency power units are each housed in a NEMA Type 1 steel cabinet, with a baked-on corrosion-resistant powder-coated paint finish. Special color finishes are available. Lead-calcium batteries are standard; nickel cadmium batteries can be specified.

PCF-FT Series models have 1-year warranties; a pro-rata warranty of up to 10 years is available on batteries. Extended warranty and service programs are available.
