Emdeon Joins HIMSS12 Interoperability Showcase(TM)

HIMSS12 Interoperability Showcase: Breaking Barriers to Interoperable Healthcare - demonstrates the value of interoperable standards-based systems

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Emdeon Inc., a leading provider of revenue and payment cycle management and clinical information exchange solutions, today announced Emdeon ePayment(TM), its interoperable standards-based technology solution, will be demonstrated during the HIMSS12 Interoperability Showcase at booth 11000 Hall G of the Venetian-Sands Expo Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Held in collaboration with Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE), the Interoperability Showcase is part of the 2012 HIMSS Conference & Exhibition from February 21-23.

Emdeon will demonstrate the capabilities of Emdeon ePayment, which replaces paper-based claims payments with electronic (EFT) payments that are directly deposited into the provider's bank account, at the Connected Demonstration area. The HIMSS Interoperability Showcase Connected Demonstration area will feature Emdeon ePayment as well as clinical information systems that function in Ambulatory, In-patient, Emergency Care, Chronic Care, Public Health, Clinical Research and other settings. Participants will interconnect their systems and demonstrate how standards-based solutions can process and transmit healthcare information from one entity to another.

Healthcare providers challenged by barriers to health information exchange will be able to connect with healthcare IT companies that are part of the Interoperability Showcase to view their solutions and discuss interoperability issues. In addition, the Interoperability Showcase offers a series of events and activities focused on healthcare IT solutions, including the following:

-- Community of Care tours allow Interoperability Showcase attendees to view care settings from the perspective of a patient as they visit multiple health service providers. Each use case will walk the attendee through the patient experience and display an electronic exchange of patient information.
-- The Showcase Theater will provide educational presentations from more than 30 industry leaders covering a range of topics including interoperability, IHE, lessons learned and real-world success stories. Tom Turi, vice president of the Emdeon Payment Network, will be presenting information about the use of EFT for healthcare claims payments.
-- The HIMSS Live Exchange Theater will feature clinical information systems demonstrations by healthcare providers who use systems grounded in IHE and other standards recognized by the Office of the National Coordinator Office of Standards and Interoperability.

"Emdeon will be part of the interactive exhibit during the HIMSS12 Interoperability Showcase where we can reach out to the healthcare community and connect with key audiences, including current and potential new customers," says Tom Turi. "This is a great way for Emdeon to help healthcare providers and others identify the right solution for their healthcare setting."
