Embedded Ethernet Module directly connects MCU to LAN.

Press Release Summary:

Serial to Ethernet module, XE232NET, allows embedded systems designers to connect microcontroller (MCU)-based systems to LAN. Attached directly to MCU's serial port, solution delivers 10Base-T Ethernet connection. Control and configuration utilizes AT commands such as those used on modem modules, permitting single design to offer Ethernet and/or modem communications. Available with or without isolation transformer, module includes 10Base-T MAC and PHY.

Xecom Announces Embedded Ethernet Module

Low-cost, XE232NET permits direct connection from microcontroller to the LAN

MILPITAS, California, June 20, 2007 - Xecom, Inc., the embedded communications specialist, today announced the XE232NET, serial to Ethernet module. XE232NET allows embedded systems designers to easily and inexpensively connect microcontroller based systems to a local area network. The XE232NET connects directly to the microcontroller's serial port and delivers a 10Base-T Ethernet connection at a cost of under $20 in 1000 piece quantities.

The XE232NET shares a common pin configuration with the Xecom XE5690SM modem family. XE232NET control and configuration utilizes AT commands like those used on modem modules. This consistency in hardware and software permits a single design to offer Ethernet and/or modem communications. The XE232NET is available with or without the isolation transformer and includes the 10Base-T MAC and PHY.

"We envisioned the XE232NET as an easy to integrate Ethernet solution for embedded systems at industry leading prices," said Steve Clary Xecom Marketing Vice President. "By providing an Ethernet bridge which connects directly to the microcontroller serial port at under $20, we have met both goals."

Applications
The XE232NET fits many types of embedded applications including security panels, home systems management, HVAC controls, point of sale terminals, and medical monitoring equipment.

Price and Delivery
The price of the XE232NET is less than $20 in 1000 piece quantities. The XE232NET is now available in limited quantities.
