Elmhurst College Replaces Adaptec Snap Servers with Highly Robust D2D Backup Solution Offering Attractive Site Licensing from Revinetix

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH and ELMHURST, ILLINOIS - August 9, 2006 - Revinetix, a pioneer in Disk2Disk2Disk(TM) backup solutions, today announced that Elmhurst College has installed a Revinetix Sentio backup appliance to protect the College's Windows and Linux-based computer servers and other critical workstations, used for ERP, Blackboard course management software, email and Web applications, among others.

Located 16 miles west of Chicago, Elmhurst College runs 23 Linux and Windows servers to support its campus of 3000 students and faculty. Prior to converting to the Revinetix backup appliance, the College's IT staff relied on traditional tape backups and Adaptec Snap Servers. The College sought a more reliable and robust network backup solution that supported offsite archiving, multiple operating systems and more affordable server licensing.

"We were doing disk-to-disk backups with Snap Servers, but this was not a very clever network backup solution," said Elmhurst College's Director of Computer Services, Jim Francis. "We had to do copy commands and didn't have compression, history or reporting, which got to be pretty ugly.

"The Revinetix backup solution, on the other hand, supports unlimited licenses on any number of servers or even PCs that we want to back-up. I also now have the ability to take information off of servers and move it to a bank vault 20 miles away for a complete disaster recovery (DR) solution. We are even planning on getting a second Revinetix appliance to put across campus in a different building to move data around between servers through a fiber link and gigabit switch. Getting the two machines to sync up will give us a pretty robust wide area distributed RAID backup system."

Revinetix Value-Added Reseller (VAR) SpeedLink Solutions assisted Elmhurst College in selecting the Sentio appliance.

"Elmhurst College looked at a variety of other disk backup solutions and particularly liked Revinetix' multiple OS support, as well as the simplicity of the product - the ability to do quick data restores versus the cumbersome task of searching for files on numerous tape cartridges," said SpeedLink Solutions Manager Jack Evans. "The Revinetix GUI-based interface eliminates the hassle and complexity of routine backups and simplifies backing up and restoring data. Customers also don't have to worry about per user licenses nor the hassle, uncertainty and unreliability of tape."

Francis continued, "We put the Revinetix solution together in about 15 to 20 minutes and it does exactly what it says it does. The first thing I did when I received the Revinetix solution was to do a test restore and it worked great. You turn it on, and it just walks you through. The Sentio comes in at a price point that is reasonable for us, and the tech support is really good."

Revinetix Sentio appliances feature hot swappable serial ATA (SATA) drive technology and support scheduled automated backups to the desktop level for every machine connected to a network. This family of backup appliance also includes high performance Xeon processors, RAID 5 redundancy, Gigabit and Fast Ethernet controllers, and dual redundant load sharing power supplies together with all the software required to backup an entire network, including full Bare Metal Restore (BMR) software.

Revinetix disaster recovery appliances support removable archive disk technology to enable customers to grow their capacity without the need to upgrade to new, expensive equipment, while storing data off-line and off-site on easily removable archive disk drives. This disk to disk to disk (D2D2D) approach totally eliminates the need to transfer data to serial magnetic tape and provides rapid data access and restore when required. This expanded data handling capability dramatically reduces the amount of time required for data backup and recovery.
